From Tampa to Texas: A Roofer's Journey
Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Andres Guerrero grew up watching his father Miguel work as a construction foreman. From age 12, summers meant working on construction sites, learning the value of hard work and quality craftsmanship that would define his career.
The Hurricane Andrew Moment (1992)
At 16, Andres witnessed Hurricane Andrew devastate South Florida. He saw families lose their homes and watched roofing contractors work day and night to rebuild communities. This life-changing event sparked his passion for roofing—he realized that a good roof isn't just about shelter; it's about protecting families and their most valuable memories.
The Florida Years (2000-2010)
Fresh out of high school in 2000, Andres started at Rodriguez & Sons Roofing in Tampa, learning every aspect of the trade. During the brutal 2004-2005 hurricane seasons (Charley, Ivan, Katrina, Wilma), he worked 16-hour days helping homeowners recover, becoming known as "The Storm Specialist" - the guy who could assess damage quickly and fight for homeowners with insurance companies.
By 2008, at just 32 years old, Andres earned his Master Roofing Contractor license in Florida—one of the youngest in the state.
Building Kingwood Roofing (2010-Present)
In 2010, Andres married Maria (an ICU nurse from Houston) and moved to Kingwood, Texas. Starting from scratch, he opened a small operation from his garage. The first year was tough—only 12 jobs completed.
The Breakthrough (2012): A major hailstorm hit Kingwood in April 2012. Andres worked around the clock, helping over 50 families file insurance claims and get new roofs. His honest approach and Florida storm experience set him apart from competitors who were price-gouging desperate homeowners. Word spread fast.
Hurricane Harvey Hero (2017): When Hurricane Harvey devastated Houston in August 2017, Andres and his team worked non-stop for 8 months, providing free tarp services to 200+ families, completing 300+ roof replacements, and fighting insurance companies that tried to deny legitimate claims.
Today (2025)
Kingwood Roofing now has 15 full-time employees, 2000+ completed projects, an A+ BBB rating, 4.9 stars on Google (500+ reviews), and partnerships with GAF, CertainTeed, and Owens Corning.
